Background
PABXSoft is designed for 32 bit (x86) processors but it will run on 64 bit platforms (x64)
All Windows operating systems from XP onwards have provided the option for 64bit versions, although XP and Vista are most commonly 32 bit, Server 2003/2008/2011 and Windows 7 are typically 64 bit.
As of Feb 2nd 2010 an installation of PABXSoft will check to see if the computer is a 32 bit or 64 bit processor, and install as per the current convention (e.g. to the Program Files directory for 32 bit and to Program Files (x86) directory if it is 64 bit.
Important
If your PABXSoft Version 8 installation was carried out prior to April 4th 2011 you should run Version 8 Latest Upgrades
Administrator
Important information. Click here (updated 4th April 2011)
Please read information about Administrator above before following any of the instructions below:
It is desirable NOT to Run as Adminstrator. There are various methods, depending on the Operating System to stop Windows from forcing you to Run As Adminstrator. They are all related to UAC. Earlier versions of Windows had two UAC options (On/Off). Turn UAC off. More recent versions of Windows provide 4 levels instead of On/Off. Set UAC to Minimum.
Also in Local Group Policy Editor, under Security Settings adjust any UAC related settings, especially "Do not prompt for elevation."
If you are unable to do the above, then you may be required to right click certain PABXSoft programs (e.g. Call Collector Windows service) and select Run as Adminstrator. (You can save this permanently by right clicking Call Collector Windows Service and under Properties, tick Run as Administrator)
Virtual Folders (very important if you have re-installed PABXsoft and are having issues)
Further Troubleshooting
Call Collector and/or Call Collector Windows service not working?
Here are our recommended steps:
1. Open Task Manager and make sure you have no PABXSoft programs running (Applications tab - PABXsoft Reports, Call Collector, Processes Tab - psiccservice). The first troubleshooting step is to shut everything down.
2. Now try running regular Call Collector. If it works (icon does not disappear), terminate it and try Call Collector Windows Service and hopefully you will be working.
3. Assuming Call Collector works BUT CC Windows service does not, next try running CC Windows by going to Start>All Programs>PABXSoft and then RIGHT clicking Call Collector Service and selecting Run As Adminstrator.
4. Still no good? Browse to the PABXSoft folder in C:\Program files, right click it and go to Sharing. Make sure the folder has been allocated FULL read/write control for all users and administrators on all the tabs (e.g. security)
