The Scheduler is used to automatically create reports and email or print them (or save to a file on a computer) at a designated time and frequency (e.g. Daily, weekly, Monthly)
Every Report can be Scheduled and each user (PABXSoft allows multiple PCs to run Reports - See Networking FAQ) can create their own unique suite of scheduled reports.
The Scheduler program has under-gone more development work than any other within PABXSoft over the past two years and there is more to come in the near future. It has proven to be one of the most popular features of PABXSoft and we would like to add the features that some people ask us for.
If you are using pre-version 8 of PABXSoft and want more enhanced Scheduling facilities then please use the Contact Form opposite to enquire about the price (it's really not much) of upgrading to Version 8.
SMTP
Normally, if you have a PC with email, PABXSoft Scheduler will work without any need to change settings. However, in some office environments there is a requirement to establish the SMTP settings (Reports>Features>Schedule>Schedule Setup. Enter the SMTP Port number and SMTP Server (enter the name normally, not an IP address).
Deleted Scheduled Events
At the moment if the Scheduler misses an event (e.g. it is closed down), then when it is re-started all scheduled events that have been missed will be deleted. This is something we are currently working on to allow missed events to be processed. Expected upgrade date Mid October 2007.
Running as a Service
The Scheduler is currently an EXE file which means it will shut down if you log off. (See above for a reason for missed events). Adding a shortcut to the Scheduler EXE (C:\Program Files\PABXSoft\Reports\
PABXSoft Scheduler.exe) to your PC start up menu will re-launch it if you have to re-boot your PC but it will not help if you log off your PC.
We are developing a Windows Service version of Scheduler-expecting upgrade release November 2007.
